Open Media Time is every morning between 8:30am-9am. Please check with your teacher before visiting Mrs. Houston in the library media center. Since Open Media Time is so popular with Twin Ridge students, Mrs. Houston had to create extra guidelines. Please do not come to the library media center during Open Media Time if you have Media class today. Also, if you came yesterday during Open Media Time or if you had Media class yesterday, come visit Mrs. Houston tomorrow instead. Mrs. Houston loves that you love to read, however there are over 640 TRES students and only 1 Mrs. Houston to check out everyone before class begins!
Borrowing Procedures
Loans
Book exchange begins the first day of school and continues until the last day of school.
Students have two full weeks to enjoy their books before the books must be returned.
Students in PK-1 may check out 1 book each week. However, they may have up to 5 books checked out under their name.
Students in grades 2-5 may check out 5 books at time. However, they may only have 5 books checked out under their name.
If you forget to bring back your books and you have five books checked out, pick the book you want to check out and give it to Mrs. Houston. She will save it for you. You may check it out when you bring your books back.
Renewal
You may renew your book for an extra two weeks unless someone else has a hold on it.
Holds
Use the LS2Pac system to place a hold on a book.
Fines
Students will not be charged fines for late books.
Students will be asked to replace the cost of the book if the book is lost. Click here to access FCPS Reg. No. 500-32 and learn about the county's lost book policy.
How to Use the Circulation System
Twin Ridge Elementary School's library media center uses a program called Library Solutions powered by The Library Corporation to help students find the books they are looking for. Students can use LS2 Kids (for younger students) or LS2 Kids Pac (for older students). Both programs are located on the Twin Ridge Elementary's Library Media Center webpage. You can locate that here.
Access a PowerPoint presentation to learn how to use these programs. Click on the pictures below:
For Substitutes
The following information has been created by FCPS Library Media Services. A copy of these instructions are provided in Mrs. Houston's emergency sub plans. Instructions for substitutes to access the circulation desk:
Computer Login: use your own FCPS username and password to login to the computer. Please call the help desk, at ext. 45310, and request to have access to the Circulation System (called T.L.C.)
On the Application Menu, click on the folder “Internet”. In this folder, you will see an icon for “Chrome”. Click that icon and it will open the Chrome browser. Input the following web address in the address bar:https://tlcstaff.fcps.org/LS2Staff/ (this is case sensitive).
You will be prompted to enter your FCPS username (without @fcps.org this time) and password again.
The following screen should automatically sign you into LS2 Staff.
If you do not have this icon or have other technology issues, here are some people who can help
Nikki Pierre X45334
Help Desk X45310
Common issues when troubleshooting:
Substitute is logged into the computer as themselves and not a generic substitute login.
They are using firstname.last without @fcps.org on the SSL portal screen.
Substitute has been setup in LS2 Preferences correctly with their location and supervisor automatic clearance role.
Mrs. Houston's Helpful Hints:
When checking in books, make sure to select the CHECK IN button on the left. Please put the cursor in the search box in the center of the screen and click. When scanning the barcode, you should hear a beep, and the title should display on the screen.
When checking out books, make sure to select the CHECK OUT button on the left. Please put the cursor in the search box at the top of the screen and click.
